Wing Tech Corner Disclaimers

Through the Wing Tech Corner website, my YouTube(tm) Channel, and other social media platforms, I post about various topics in the form of commentary, guides, how-tos, reviews, and any appropriate form.

I Am Not A <fill in the blank professional>

In none of these cases, should what I say be construed as any of the following forms of advice that one would normally ask of a professional of their respective field:

  • Legal Advice
  • Financial Advice
  • Investment Advice
  • Medical Advice
  • Business Advice
  • Human Resources Advice
  • Engineering Advice
  • Aerospace Engineer Advice
  • Geneticist Advice
  • etc.

Note, while I am an Operations Engineer professionally, it is the still the responsibility of the individual to ensure that the advice or information provided and received is applicable to their specific environment. In that regard, please see to the next section:

No Warrantee Expressed or Implied

Any content I publish or place online is done so without any form of warrantee, either implied or otherwise. Ie, I’m not responsible for any personal, professional, direct, or indirect loss or harm you might experience through the use of the content I publish online. It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure their own safety and protect themselves from loss or damage of both physical and non-physical property/assets/etc.

If you find and make use of the information I have published, you do so of your own free will and with the expectation that you understand, know, and accept the potential risks and dangers associated with accepting information from a third party and do so with the understanding that there is no warrantee, protection, or guarantee any specific results.

Personal Safety

You are responsible for your own personal safety.

Period.

Proper or improper use of information provided can result in loss/damage/injury/loss of life, due to many unforeseen circumstances or risks that are both known and unknown at the time of publication. It is up to the individual to assess their own level of comfort with risk and if they decide to proceed, acknowledge that they are doing so under their own free will and are they themselves responsible for any and all effects and risks that result.

Some examples, but definitely not limited to:

  • Heat: soldering, hot air guns, hot plates, electronic circuits, etc.
  • Electrical: power supplies, batteries, capacitors, AC, DC, etc.
  • Chemical: acids, bases, toxins, solvents, water, salt, etc.
  • Particulate/Aerosals: friable materials like milled/sawed/snapped circuit boards, fiber glass, or even woods. Certain materials when heated will give off gases: ABS, PLA, Solder, LEAD, solvents, fluxes, basically ANY plastic, steam, etc.
  • Biological: If you work or deal with biologicals, you are responsible for carefully following any and all safety protocols required for the biological agents and materials you are working with.

The list can literally go on and on, but the TLDR; is that you are responsible for your own personal safety and anything you do, you are expected to have done due diligence on your part to ensure your safety and that of your surroundings, personal and private property, information, etc. That and if anything should go wrong, I’m not liable for damages, loss, or any resulting costs.

Personal Likeness or Relation To People or Places In Real Life

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any stories or situations I relate are not of real people, places, businesses, incidents, etc. Any similarity with a REAL person, place, business, incident, etc. is purely coincidental. If you believe this to not be the case, please contact me to discuss the matter.

Copyright, Fair Use, and Licensing

Unless I specifically state that something is released to the public domain or otherwise free to use, content published here on this site, or elsewhere, is copyrighted to myself and save for fair use and proper legal licensing uses, requires explicit permission to re-use.

If you are a teacher/instructor and seek to use imagery/content from my videos or posts, please contact me first, as it has come to my attention that instructors have a tendency to copy content en-masse for use in their own curriculum, which is NOT within the scope of fair use, which only covers the use of small portions for the sake of illustration, commentary, editorial, etc.

Attribution To Third Parties

When I use or reference materials from third parties, I will make every attempt to indicate the source of the third party content and give proper attribution. I also work hard to ensure that I operate with Fair Use in mind. If you or another third party has found content to be improperly published here or through one of the various social media and video content channels I publish through, please reach out to me and I will make the necessary corrections or take-downs.

Personal Privacy

I’m a strong advocate of personal privacy, and not just my own. 🙂

To that end, I have tried to make the site rely on as little cookie technology as possible and rely on as few third party services as possible… however, in order for social network features to work, some of them will need to exchange information. So there will most likely be some cookie tracking going on between your browser and the various commercial sites. Some examples, but not exhaustive of all sites that might be involved:

  • Google.com
  • Youtube.com
  • WordPress.com
  • Facebook.com
  • Twitter.com
  • Pinterest.com
  • Tumblr.com
  • Their partners/etc.

There is a footer banner that pops up for a few seconds indicating that cookies are used on this site and some personal tracking information may be stored/transmitted/etc. You can block any/all cookies on this site and the site will still be perfectly usable. I’m cool with it either way.

I have not personally made changes to the core WordPress application stack or any of the plugins to record or otherwise track/store additional information and have actually made it a point to offload as much of that to third party services as much as possible because… well, let the folks who do what they do best, do what they do.

Advertisements and Affiliate Revenue

Revenue on the site is generated through advertisements. At the time of the last update of this document, the revenue is generated through the following entities:

  • Google/Adsense
  • Amazon/Affiliates

Others may be added at different times and removed without notice. The above list is not exhaustive and should not be considered so.

Sponsored or Paid Posts

If I use something and write about it on this site, I will indicate whether or not it was sponsored or the post was in some way compensated or paid for. By default, I’m not compensated by anyone to write a given post or present any particular viewpoint other than my own. If I am approached regarding some content on my site and am forced to change it or if I become compensated, I will update the articles and provide as much notice as is possible on the article itself.

Freebies From Third Parties

Same as with the sponsored or paid posts, if someone sends me something free of charge to review, and I decide to do so, I will note it in the posting itself.

Freebies From Me!

Occasionally, I will hold give aways. They will be done in a random manner with the manner of selection/randomization published at the time of the announcement of the give-away so that all participants. No give-away will require purchasing anything.

There is no warrantee expressed or implied that goes along with a give-away. If the item in question is non-functional or damaged prior to receipt by the recipient, I will make reasonable effort to either replace the item or provide the option of another item available at the time.
